While Sifu Anderson and the staff host a variety of fundraising events, including our annual 2010 Kicka-thon for St. Judes Children’s Hospital and our tuition donation to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer fundraiser and the Y-Society of New York City. Our most committed and frequent charity is Women’s Self Defense.
Anderson’s Martial Arts Academy is proud to be the long time host for a bi-monthly FREE Self Defense class, whose charity donations go directly to benefit BABAE (a not-for-profit organization created in 2002 to help Filipina victims and survivors of violence in the New York / New Jersey metropolitan area).
The idea of our AMAA FREE Self Defense Program is to create a pay it forward concept:
Sifu Anderson, Dasha Libin and the AMAA staff and senior students dedicate two hours of their teaching to host a two hour seminar, educating women on street awarness and self defense. All women attending the class can then go ahead and give a donation (suggested donations are 5-15 dollars), of which all proceeds will go to BABAE.
Our Self-defense class covers:
Women of all ages will learn how to react and defend themselves through a variety of methods including: verbal, hand to hand, ground and weapons self defense and education and street awareness. All women are welcome!!! Bring friends, family members and coworkers!!! No training or fitness experience needed.
