“For myself, I have taken what my Sifu has given me and applied it to full contact stick fighting, where I was able to compete and win against seasoned Kali fighters/instructors who trained for these competitions exclusively. I won the 2006 Men’s JR. Heavyweight Single Stick Championship with a gold medal, earned a spot on the WEKAF 2006 US National Team, and finally a Silver Medalist in the 2006 World competition.”
“When I started here at the age of 30 I had no formal martial arts training, and now including the above mentioned titles I hold an apprentice instructor certificate in Progressive Fighting Systems, and 2nd level apprentice instructorships in Kali and JKD from Anderson’s Martial Arts. These last 2 are the most important to me because I know that Sifu’s expectations and standards are most high, and that certifications here are truly earned.”

“I have been teaching and training Capoeira for the past 14 years and founded the New York chapter of Omulu Guanabara Capoeira. I began cross training at Anderson’s Martial Arts nearly 5 years ago and have grown as a teacher, student and martial artist because of Sifu Anderson and his Academy. All of the classes are physically and mentally challenging, the instructors have amazing skill and the philosophy of the school facilitates growth and learning in everyone who walks through the door. But most importantly, AMAA is like a family that supports and encourages all of its students!”

I’d just like to say that Anderson’s Martial Arts has literally changed my life. I had always wanted to practice Jeet Kune Do, ever since becoming a huge Bruce Lee fan back in the 70′s. I dabbled in several other martial arts over the years but never stayed very long with any of them, probably because unconsciously I just felt that something was missing. Well, that “something” is definitely here at Anderson’s…. All of the people are great and extremely knowledgeable, experienced and helpful. The quality of instruction is unparalled — we’re exposed to so many concepts, but we practice lots of basics that are amazingly efficient and practical. And the workouts…… Wow. The most intense I’ve ever experienced in my life, and they’ve paid off – my doctor just told me that my cholesterol has dropped 30 points this year, into a very safe range – and he no longer wants me to go on a medication for it! Sure I’ve improved my diet, but not that dramatically – therefore I know that Anderson’s training has really done the trick. I feel great, I’ve lost a lot of weight, and I know that I can really fight now! And having turned 50 this year, this sure is a wonderful feeling…
Thanks, Sifu, for such an amazing school!

“This past year I moved out to New York City to finish recording my third CD and begin training for my upcoming European tour. I have always used martial arts as a form of stress relief and fitness, it has been a great guiding light in my stressful and demanding career. When I came to New York, AMAA was highly recommended by many people in my industry. I started training with Sifu Anderson and the guys at the school and have never turned back! These guys are the real deal… they are amazing athletes, fighters and teachers. I have trained in a variety of schools through out my travel but never have I encountered the quality of training, in all the arts, that I receive at Anderson’s Martial Arts. Plus, the cardio and strength training is unbelievable, this is my go to when I need to get in shape and hit the road for tour.”
“In my industry I expect a lot from people that I work with. These guys are pro’s and I love that they make me expect even more from myself.”

“If you can’t beat’em join’em. After about two years in NYC and after countless times of getting my butt literally and figuratively kicked in training at my sports club by this one individual (Sifu Anderson’s student) he talked me into coming to train with Sifu Anderson. His thoughts were “Your stand up is real good but you need more technique and more ground training.” So, after running around through unfulfilling gyms, MMA and Muay Thai schools I came and I joined Anderson’s Martial Arts.”
“What I thought was one unique individual (i.e. my buddy from the sports club) was not. Sifu’s training methodologies and techniques have helped me, as well as many others, grow and expand my skill set and knowledge set beyond what I thought possible. Because of Sifu I have boxed in a sanctioned match (training vigorously while traveling non stop for work) and dominated the fight winning by TKO in the second round. Where ground fighting was once my weakest link it is now an essential part of my training and one of my favorite training sessions. Through hard work, training and perseverance I now hold a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu .”
“I travel 3 to 4 days a week for work. Through Sifu’s network and on my own I have guest trained at many others schools through out the country. And by far Anderson Martial Arts offers the most variety without being overwhelming, the best workouts and training, and a great post work stress outlet that is enjoyed by all the student’s, not just me. I have not only found a great place to train I have made some great friends in the process.”

“I came to Anderson’s Martial Arts expecting to simply learn to fight, but soon something else started to happen… not only was I building entirely new skills but I was building a new understanding, ability and new relationships. In time the relationships with the staff and other students became unbreakable, while my ability and knowledge of both combat and martial arts became greater and more valuable then I could have ever imagined. ”
“As most people do, I came into the school thinking that I could fight. But I soon realized how ignorant I was to what fighting really meant. ”
“All the instructors at the school have a wide knowledge of martial arts that is not limited to the ones that are listed on the curriculum. They have a style, ability and enthusiasm about teaching the material that is comparable to no other. The founder of the school, Sifu Dan Anderson, is a an extremely talented and devastating martial artist. He has the ability to take complex motions and techniques and break them down to a level that someone, who has no prior knowledge of the arts can understand and apply. He builds great practitioners, great fighters and enhances anyone he teaches.”
“With Sifu Anderson as a driving force it is easy to see why the skill level of every staff member and student at the school is so high. ”
“After some time training I was allowed to fight for the school in Thai boxing matches. This is a great honor and my faith is Sifu Anderson, the rest of the staff and their talents gave me the strength to win and keep winning. It has been a hard path with many great moments and learning experiences. If not for the instructors and my fellow students, who not only helped me train for each fight but then came to support me, I would not be the fighter I am today. Today I can safely say, Anderson’s Martial Arts is my home. ”
“If you are considering training anywhere, this is simply put the most well-rounded, knowledgeable and badass school in New York, just read Sifu’s biography and experience. Anderson’s Martial Arts Academy is truly a place for the advancement of knowledge, it is an establishment that breaks the molds of what people expect from martial arts training and sets standards in excellence. It is an academy more than worthy of the pride and admiration held by its students.”
Dwight Grant – WKA Regional Heavy Weight Champion
“Simply put Anderson’s Martial Arts Academy is the best school in NY and I’ve been to a few. The workout is crazy, I’m in the best shape of my life and because of their attention to detail my form is better than it’s ever been. With my heart monitor I know for a fact I burn on average about 900 calories per class. I’ve never been leaner… and meaner. ”
