Simo Dasha Libin Anderson MS, NASM-PES, NASE, MKC-2, M-KBIA is a fitness expert, author, fitness and martial arts writer, full time martial artist, world traveler, and eternal student. She is the creator of the Kettlebell Kickboxing™ fitness brand with 24 fitness DVDs and a fitness book. Because of her clients and projects, many also call her a “celebrity trainer.”
With over a decade of training in Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do (JKD), Filipino Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Dasha was featured as Black Belt Magazine’s only female 21st Century Martial Artist. Dasha is currently an apprentice level instructor under the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto. Dasha has a Master’s Degree in Sports Science, with a specialty in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention (MS). Additionally, Dasha is certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine with their master level (NASM-PES) credentials. She is also a certified Speed and Explosion Specialist (NASE-SES) with the National Association of Speed and Explosion. Additionally Dasha is a certified instructor in Kettle bells and Indian Clubs under “American Father of the Russian Kettlebells & Fitness” Steve Maxwell (MKC-2).
Foe several years Dasha was a contributing editor and go-to martial art fitness/ nutrition expert at Blackbelt Magazine. She has written over thirty columns for the magazine.
Throughout her martial arts career, Dasha has achieved several instructorships. Most notably she is an apprentice level instructor under the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts. She also has a full instructor certification in Jeet Kune Do Concepts (JKD) and Filipino Martial Arts under Sifu Paul Vunak and Sifu Thomas C. Cruse and ranking in Progressive Fighting Systems. Dasha has obtained a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as the Red Glove “Initiateur” rank in Savate (French Kickboxing). Dasha is has a black belt in Jeet Kune Do & Filipino Martial Arts and is currently studying full-time under her long-time instructor and husband Sifu Dan Anderson. In August 2010, Dasha was named one of NY1’s New Yorker of the Week for her FREE women’s self-defense program.
As a writer, Dasha has written articles for FIGHT!, Fitness Rx, Oxygen, and Kettlebell Magazine. Currently, she writes a monthly column called “FUEL” for the highly acclaimed martial arts publication Black Belt Magazine. Dasha and her Kettlebell Kickboxing™ method were featured throughout 6-pages of SELF magazine’s March 2012 issue.
In 2013, Dasha was asked to be the official trainer for the Miss New York USA & Miss Teen USA brands.
Dasha is proud to be a fitness brand ambassador for lululemon athletica Soho. Dasha is also an official fitness ambassador and one of the few official testers for VSX® (Victoria Secret’s Sports). Additionally, Dasha has worked with brands like Athleta®, Nikon, and NYU during their special events, campaigns, and brand/store launches.
Dasha’s main focus at the moment is learning, teaching, and empowering women through fitness and martial arts. She has devoted all of her time to her sold-out NYC Kettlebell Kickboxing™ classes, as well as her Kettlebell Kickboxing™ Scorcher Series (4-disc set), Body Series (11-disc set), and 7 Day Lean Series (7-disc set) DVD sets. Although she scoffs at the term, Dasha is a real NYC based “celebrity trainer.” She has had the pleasure to work and develop programs for many high-level athletes, actors, performers, and fashion icons. She has been sought out for her expertise in not only transforming the body, but also developing programs equipped with the strength and agility needed for many of her clients’ hectic work schedules and demands.
Dasha owes all of her accomplishments to the support and guidance of her family and amazing husband. Specifically, her mother Yelena Libin’s strength and persistence; her teacher, husband, and best friend Sifu Dan Anderson; the loyalty of her sister; and the love of her grandparents and father. In her words, “You don’t need to be born into privilege, so long as you are born into support and love (and a bit of tough love too).”
